Top 5 World Book Day Cakes
World Book Day is a Celebration of books, authors and illustrators. It’s a celebration of reading.
At La Belle Cake Company we are a huge fan of books. The characters within children’s books have inspired some of our most favourite cake designs.
This World Book Day we wanted to share our Top 5 World Book Day inspired creations.
Who doesn’t love the story of this adorable bear? Found at Paddington station by the Brown Family sitting on his suitcase. Paddington Bear always carried a jar of marmalade in suitcase and a stash of marmalade sandwiches under his hat.
Cruella De Vil
Whilst most people associate Cruella De Vil with the Disney movie 101 Dalmatians, the movie did actually start life as a book by Dodie Smith back in 1956! Cruella De Vil is one of my favourite Disney Villans; even if it is just for pulling of that hairstyle with such style!!
The little man with the red and yellow car. Noddy was a fictional character created by Enid Blyton who was my favourite author as a child. (Who else remember’s the Faraway Tree series). Noddy resided in Toyland with his friend Big Ears and his pet “bumpy dog”.
Since 1997 the Harry Potter Books by JK Rowling have found immense popularity, critical claim and commercial success worldwide. The best selling book in history, they have sold more than 500 million copies worldwide (as of Feb 2018).
The BFG – Roald Dahl
It wouldn’t be World Book Day if we didn’t mention Roald Dahl – for many people he is the worlds Number One story teller. His stories have spanned generations (James and the Giant Peach was written back in 1961!) and are still as much loved by children today. Some people may not know that Roald Dahl also wrote the screen play for the film Chitty Chity Bang Bang!
