Nutella Cake Recipe

For the cake:

  • 100g unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 100g Nutella
  • 4 medium eggs
  • 200g caster sugar
  • 200g self-raising flour
  • ½tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

To decorate and fill:

  • 125g Nutella
  • 125g unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 500g icing sugar
  • 1tsp vanilla extract

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4 and line 2x 7″ cake tins with greaseproof paper.
  2. In a large bowl, or in an electric mixer, whisk all the ingredients together until thoroughly combined. Divide between the two cake tins making sure you’ve got an even amount in each.
  3. Bake for 20-25 mins until springy to touch.
  4. Leave to cool on a wire rack.
  5. While cooling make the Nutella butter icing. In a large bowl, or in an electric mixer, combined the Nutella, unsalted butter, icing sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
  6. Spread the top of one of the cakes with a thick layer of butter icing. Place the other cake on top and cover the top with some more butter icing.
  7. Decorate as desired. We decorated with piped rosettes but you could decorate with Ferrero Rocher.
  8. Serve and enjoy!!
