Pantone Color of the Year 2018
Thursday 7th December 2017 saw Pantone announce Pantone 18-3838 Ultra Violet as Pantone Color of the Year 2018. Described as a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade, PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.
Pantone said “Enigmatic purples have long been symbolic of counterculture, unconventionality and artistic brilliance”. This quote sounded extremely similar to a photo shoot I took part in earlier in the year.
Organised by Golden Poppy events, this edgy shoot took place at The Verve Hotel in Bedford which inspired the purple and black colour palette. Wild striking flowers from Fleurette complemented the dresses and made a stunning table set up surrounded by candle light. We created a bold purple cake, which was a completely different statement to the usual pastel shades.
The strong bridal look was provided by Bowen-Dryden from Woburn Bridal. Romantic black separates created a dark, glamorous bridal style which was both unusual and modern. This was perfectly complemented by the deep purple bridesmaids dress also from Woburn Bridal. Joanna at Woburn Bridal said “I love that you can see the stunning embroidery on the Bowen-Dryden at Woburn Bridal Separates. It’s soft and romantic but edgy and modern.”
Emme used Bobbi Brown products to create a statement bridal look of smokey dark eyes and the Hair Boutique opted for soft and sexy tousled locks. As you can see the results speak for themselves.
